International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)
Das Internationale Zentrum für Tropische Landwirtschaft (CIAT) ist eine gemeinnützige, nichtstaatlichen Forschungsorganisation, die sich der Linderung von Hunger und Armut sowie der Bewahrung natürlicher Ressourcen in Entwicklungsländern widmet. Es ist eines von 16 Zentren unterstützt von der Beratungsgruppe für internationale Agrarforschung (CGIAR). Die wichtigsten Forschungsthemen sind pflanzliche Verbesserung, Erhaltung, Untersuchung und Nutzung der biologischen Vielfalt, Bekämpfung von Schädlingen und Krankheiten, Bodenqualität und Produktionssysteme sowie der Landbewirtschaftung. Die wichtigsten Produkte dieser Arbeit sind verbessertes Saatgut, Methoden und Informationen.
