Beschreibung:
Goal: To generate higher incomes for poor farmers in developing countries based on the enhanced and sustainable use of native and neglected crop diversity. Purpose: In response to the growing demand for differentiated, high-value foods and ingredients, and focusing on Capsicum peppers as an example for the universal problem of the under-use of crop genetic diversity, Bioversity along with its partners in Germany and two developing countries (Bolivia and Peru) will combine innovative methodologies (e.g. molecular studies, GIS, biochemical screening) and market intelligence to promote the use of native varieties and species that respond to market opportunities and trends, all sourced from representative national germplasm collections.
