The Economics of Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought: Towards an integrated global assessment of Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought
Beschreibung:
Goal: To assess the current best knowledge and state of the art of the analytical approaches related to: • DLDD, • their causes and driving forces, • their effects on land productivity incl. changes in the provision of terrestrial ecosystem services, • the social and economic costs of these effects, • the costs of enhancing land productivity and (re-) establishing ecosystem services; and to recommend a methodology for an integrated evaluation of the afore-mentioned costs based on DLDD assessments at global, regional and local levels; to describe the nature of partnerships required for regional and global assessments and to recommend potential partners. Purpose: This study will serve as a reference document for the integrated global assessment study which will be articulated around regional assessments to be delivered for the 2nd Scientific Conference of UNCCD in 2012.
