N.L. Chrestensen Erfurter Samen- und Pflanzenzucht GmbH
In the fifth generation meanwhile N.L. Chrestensen GmbH is engaged in plant breeding, variety maintenance and seeds production of horticultural seeds in blooming Borntal in Erfurt, Germany. We cultivate over 1500 ha breeding land and 10000 m² greenhouse area to grow popular N.L.Chrestensen breedings for seed extraction. Planting, cultivation and harvest place a high demand on horticultural knowledge. To secure our high quality standards every incoming lot is tested to germination and purity in our laboratory. Samples of the harvest are carried to a trial field to prove their genetic purity. Our production and processing is constantly being monitored and tested by LUFA Thueringen (the Regional Testing and Research Institution of Thuringia). Also, all exports of seeds and bulbs are inspected by TLVA, the Official Phytocertification Authority. We deliver open pollinated and hybrid flower seeds (especially for bedding, cutting and for potting – our breeding programmes concentrate on use as pot plants), vegetable seeds (especially garden peas) and herb and spice seeds for medical and culinary use to professional and home gardeners and to our trade partners in the whole world. Moreover we deliver flower bulbs, plants and seedlings and diverse pesticides and fertilizers.
