FUGATO-plus - BovIBI - Integrative Bioinformatics in the genomic selection in cattle

Description:

The knowledge of the link between genetic variation and the corresponding variation phenotypic characteristics is crucial for understanding the inheritance of complex phenotypic characteristics and thereby improve the basis of breeding strategies: How can the genetic causes of phenotypic variation, using genotyping when young to be decided early Whether the animal breeding for further use or used. BovIBI investigated this relationship in an integrative-bioinformatics approach focusing on genome-wide genetic variation, the variation of the metabolomics and the phenotypic variation. First, find out what information a molecular level Gene - in selected applications from metabolite profiles - for the marker phenotype is estimated to be used. These application-A record form the basis for breeding so far in the statistical models used to expand and improve. The second is the estimate of non-additive genetic components in focus, what specifically on animal material of this project is estimated and can be modeled. Overall, the following steps are planned: (1) selection of experimental animals (currently: Preparations) (2) collection of SNP genotypes, metabolite profiles and phenotypic characteristics (3) prediction of milk protein characteristics of metabolite profiles (4) prediction of milk protein characteristics and metabolite profiles from genome-wide SNP genotypes (5) development of an inclusive and bioinformatics approach to the use of molecular network structures in the genomic selection (currently: designing simulation studies) (6) experimental design of an experimental validation
