Collaborative project: Autonomous field robot for individual plant phenotyping (BoniRob) – Subproject 1

Description:

In this project an autonomous vehicle ('field robot') was developed, which is able to detect single plants in fields automatically, saves their position an does a rating of plant parameter by measuring the spectral and morphological signatures. Using a high precise GPS system the robot can redetect the position of a single plant and thus is able to perform a fully automatic plant rating process related to a single plant by the use of different sensor technologies. A repetition of plant measurements allows to document the growing process and to visualize the changing of all measureable plant parameters. The by sensors measured parameters of the plants are available electronically and can by visualized and analyzed by geographical information systems. Due to the development of an autonomous robot platform and the automatic measurement and analyzes of parameter the base of the plant rating objectification was given.
