Collaborative project: Assessment of the nutritive value of a novel rape seed cake with high UDP-content in experiments with dairy cows and according to an innovative in vitro-method (HighUDP) – Subproject 1
Description:
The aim is the validation and further development of an innovative dynamic in vitro-method for the estimation of the UDP-content and kinetic of ruminal protein degradation in by-products of oil extraction from oil seeds. In particular, it shell be investigated how selective the distinction between different UDP-levels (30 and 60%) within a given feedstuff (rapeseed cake, RKU) and between different feedstuffs (RKU; soybean meal, SES) with a similar UDP-content of about 30% (RKU-30, SES-30), respectively, works. The obtained data are checked against in situ-results from trials with dairy cows and compared with results yielded from further in vitro-methods. UDP-content and kinetic of ruminal protein dagradation in RKU-60, RKU-30, and SES-30 are determined according to an innovative dynamic in vitro-method and compared with in situ-results from trials with dairy cows. A comparison with established in vitro-method is done with support of the University of Hohenheim (modified Hohenheim gas test) and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University Bonn (protein solubility, duodenal digestibility of UDP). The in vitro-data on duodenal digestibility of rumen-stable protein will be compared with in vivo-results on the amino acid flow at the proximal duodenum of dairy cows (> 35 kg milk / day) fed iso-nitrogenic with rations containing alternatively RKU-60, RKU-30, and SES-30.
