BIOPLEX Phase III, Teilprojekt: „Biodiversity and spatial complexity in agricultural landscapes under Global Change(BIOPLEX) and Biolog-Europa Coordination
Description:
Another focal point of research is „Biodiversity and spatial complexity in agricultural landscapes under Global Change” (BMBF: BIOPLEX). This interdisciplinary project by the Universities of Gießen and Göttingen analyses the relation between biodiversity, spatial complexity and socio-economy in agricultural landscapes. In addition to species richness and community composition of important functional animal groups (predators, seed predators, soil-engineers) biotic interactions, abiotic variables, spatial-temporal pattern and ecosystem functioning are analysed. An other important aspect of the BIOLOG programme is to share scientific ecological knowledge not only among researchers, but also with stakeholders involved in land use planning and with the general public. For this purpose, publications both on the Internet and in print media are being prepared.
