Genetic analysis of complex traits in maize: major components of drought tolerance and growth-related traits
Description:
We will characterize genomic regions involved in drought tolerance in maize using next generation resequencing. These regions will be targeted in an introgression library segregating for drought tolerance. Target genes involved in the drought stress response will be analyzed in detail and natural allelic variation in target genes will be investigated in a panel of diverse maize lines. An in silico approach will be taken to localize drought-responsive genes and deliver a virtual genome map for drought stress response in maize.
