Effect of feeding species-specific and non-species-specific milk on development of lambs of dairy sheep and goats

Feeding species-specific milk to lambs causes a reduced production for the market. Thus, organic farmers often feed organic produced cow milk to the lambs of dairy sheep and goats to avoid lower incomes. This is no contradict to the legislative rules for organic farming. However, this practice rises the question after the animal welfare and a reduced resistance against diseases, which may lead to economic losses later in production.
