Improvement of quality and riskmanagement systems with an internet based information platform for the livestock and meat industry to reduce negative impacts in the meat processing supply chain

Description:

The goal of the project is to provide important product, process and quality data related to livestock and meat via an internet based information platform. The respective data will be accumulated and harmonized. Processed data will then be provided quickly to parties involved in the livestock and meat industry. This will ensure that possible negative impacts (such as germs or also deficits in the livestock breeding) on the meat processing production chain are identified and resolved early and reliably. When passing critical thresholds in regard to slaughter, quality or hygiene data related to the meat producing chain, an alert message is sent to all parties concerned at first. When passing maximum values or thresholds, an additional message is automatically generated by the system and sent to the respective farmer, i.e. livestock breeder, the respective consulting organization or scientific institution. This information serves then as a trigger for implementing a countermeasure. By means of a network of agricultural producers, suppliers, processing enterprises, institutions for quality management, research and marketing departments and institutions as well as associated industries and services providers within the meat producing value added chain, competitive advantages shall be generated for all business partners concerned. This will be possible by using the network to collect information and data from the production process in order to enhance quality and risk management systems. Involved partners and persons will have access to the information platform to retrieve data by using a web application. This will enable them to timely initiate respective actions and measures whenever necessary.
