German Contribution to the Harmonisation of National Forest Inventories in Europe – Techniques for Common Reporting
Description:
Within the framework of the European National Forest Inventory Network (ENFIN) solutions shell be developed to improve and harmonise the existing national forest resource inventories in Europe. In this way the usability of the National Forest Inventories as a source of information on European level shell be improved. The main objective of the project is to input own proposals and to evaluate proposals of the other participating countries considering the special conditions in Germany. The project includes three key aspects of activity: 1. Harmonised definitions and measuring practices 2. Harmonised estimation procedures for carbon pools and carbon pool changes 3. Harmonised indicators and estimation procedures for assessing components of biodiversity with NFI data. Within icp-forest an expert panel was implemented to think about how to harmonised soil inventories in Europe. These result will be used in the european soil inventory and its evaluations , too.
