Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW)
The achievement of sustainable development is a central task for societies in the 21st century. In order to attain this goal, an integrated ecological, economic and social response is necessary. Science is faced with a new challenge: an increasing need for interdisciplinary and applied research. Based on its many years of experience, the IOeW develops and assesses applied and scientific concepts for political, social and economic actors. In 1985, scientists, engaged in ecological issues, established the IOeW as a non-profit public limited company. The central interest was and still is to open up economics to ecological questions and to develop methods, instruments and models for the greening of political frameworks and economic actions.
