GLOWA Elbe III 2007 - 2010 - Impact of global change on the water cycle in the Elbe region --

Target of the BMBF GLOWA research program is to develop science based proposals for ensuring the availability, quality and distribution of water resources. For the third phase the GLOWA-program is oriented to 'help decision makers in the catchment areas to examine and assess the impact of various decisions . These systems should be designed so that they are transferable to other comparable river basins'(BMBF 2005). Building on the programme by the consortium GLOWA-Elbe for the final third research phase, the following objectives are pursued: * Provision and dissemination of the instruments and results of the investigation GLOWA-alliance (to adjust the water management in the Elbe region to the challenges of global change) to the practice; for this purpose substantive, technical and organizational requirements are to be created, and * Demonstration of the developed instruments in policy-use cases for the whole Elbe region.
