Purpose of research: Applied research
Pesticides need before they can be marketed and applied a national authorization.
The authorization procedure is a two-step process wherein initially the active substance is subject to an approval procedure.
Legal basis for the examination is the EU Regulation 1107/2009 in conjunction with the Plant Protection Act. Under the zonal evaluation process the Institute is responsible for the assessment of the efficacy which includes the effectiveness, crop tolerance and the adverse effects on yield, quality, succeeding and adjacent crops and on resistance.
In the review report it is described whether the formal and substantive conditions for granting an authorization are fulfilled.
