Game Guard Project

Project

Project code: 2819100312
Contract period: 01.05.2012 - 31.10.2015
Budget: 669,835 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

The research project 'Game Guard' is about exploring ready to use fawn rescuing systems, which can be integrated in existing workflows in a user-optimized, safe and efficient way. The focus is on two platforms: a handheld, ground-based and an airborne version. Both systems follow the approach discover – mark – rediscover – rescue and save. Before mowing, fawns are searched and detected by suitable sensors, which are mounted on a handheld or an airborne platform – supported by adequate data analysis methods.Fawns found before mowing will be marked using a suitable electronic marker for reliable rediscovery of animals during mowing.A suitable reading system, which can be mounted at the farm machine for example, identifies the marker, so fawns can be taken away from the meadow.Accompanying to this, analysis of user acceptance for this game guard system and efficiency of established scarecrows for game animals will be part of the research work.
