Project code: MRI-PBE-08-Nano08
Contract period: 01.06.2010 - 31.12.2013
Purpose of research: Basic research

We hypothesize that the development of novel formulations by nanotechnology are able to increase the bioavailability in such a way that the bioactivity of apple dihydrochalcones in obesity related metabolic disorders (insulin resistance, steatosis, dyslipidemia) could be modified. Following this hypothesis, the major aims of our present project is to investigate 1) the in vivo bioavailability of nano-formulated apple dihydrochalcones as compared to the normal un-formulated chalcones. 2) the bioactivity of nano-formulated versus crude chalcones in alimentary induced obesity/steatosis rat model. This compact project might also serve as a pilot study which will help to promote external project applications.
