Production processes

Project code: JKI-GF-08-016
Contract period: 01.01.2001 - 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research

The production of ornamentals is characterised by high quality demands and serious pests. To develop adequate biological control strategies one investigation is being carried out to control the white fly Bemisia tabaci in poinsettia. Another investigation concerns the biological regulation of aphids, spider mites and thrips in cut flower roses. All investigations are carried out in greenhouses under common production conditions. With the help of the computer programme APHCON biological control of aphids should be more reliable and efficient. During further development of the programme, investigations into the predator/prey relation of aphids and beneficials in sweet pepper are being carried out.
