Project code: BFH-IV-02-2.7
Contract period: 01.03.2005 - 28.02.2007
Purpose of research: Basic research

In the present study, the characteristic properties of “juvenile wood” in Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) timbers originated from European forest stands were investigated as related to the “mature wood” of older trees. The aim of the project is providing practical information on wood properties of juvenile wood in order to establish the product quality of Black locust woods. Furthermore, an evaluation of the occurence and distribution of heartwood decay depending on the age of the trees, forest stands, and forest management were included.
