Project code: MRI-OG-08-KA-120-1060-SinoGerman
Contract period: 01.04.2012 - 30.09.2015
Purpose of research: Applied research

Phytoestrogen are contained in food and foodstuffs, such as soy, soy milk and soy protein. Soy protein serves as a source of protein in infant formulas. Thus infants, who are fed with such infant formulas, take in phytoestrogens. The impact of these dietary phytoestrogens on infants’ and children’s development is not fully investigated. The aim of this research project is: 1. Improving the cooperative mechanism between China and Germany in the area of food safety; 2. Supplying theoretical basis and scientific data for risk assessing of dietary phytoestrogens by investigating the impact of dietary phytoestrogen on reproductive system’s and sexual hormone sensitive tissues’ development under different exposure scenarios, observing the changes of hormone profile, the morphology character and the expression profile of relative biomarkers 3. Investigating the tissue distribution and tissue specific metabolism of phytoestrogens; try to find out the correlation between the metabolism and bioactivity of phytoestrogens 4. Elucidating the inter-reaction between different phytoestrogens and the influence of food matrix on phytoestrogen’s metabolism and bioactivity 5. Exploring the mechanism of genistein’s effect on development & differentiation of primary bone marrow stromal cells 6. Analyzing the impact of dietary IF under different exposure scenarios on epigenetic regulation of developmental and obesity-related genes 7. Trying to identify universal biomarker for risk assessment of dietary phytoestrogens on infants’ and children’s development.
