Collaborative project: Intelligent Timber: RFID in Roundwood Logistics – Subproject 1
Project
Project code: 28153F1107
Contract period: 01.03.2008
- 28.02.2011
Budget: 617,477 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development
In interconnected project components, relevant open issues are being resolved to create a practicable and functional overall solution for RF use in industrial roundwood assortments, which satisfies the specific requirements of the different actors involved in the process. The project is concentrating on: Developing suitable tags that consist of (carrier) materials that do not interfere with a buyer’s production processes when they remain in lumber and are readable in bulk (identification of roundwood marked with RF on trucks when delivered at a mill), Developing a device to identify the provenance of roundwood on trucks when delivered at a mill by means of bulk reading (gate) and Developing software for the acquisition, management and exchange of data from RF identification, which shall be an integral part of order and billing management.
