HydroBeet - Optimising sugar beet cultivation
Project
Project code: EIP-Agri-Ni-2024-BW
Contract period: 01.01.2024
- 31.12.2026
Budget: 257,385 Euro
Purpose of research: Project preparation activity
Keywords: soil, water, fodder and feed, arable crops, digitalisation, incl. data and data technologies
The aim of this project is to develop an innovative and locally adaptable cultivation system for sugar beet by combining known and new approaches, which increases the efficiency of the use of the available water for sugar beet cultivation. To this end, new means of production, sensor-based data and arable and crop cultivation measures are to be combined into an integrated approach in order to secure and increase sugar beet yields even under conditions of increasing climate change. The overall concept is to be combined from the results of the following work packages: Optimization of the irrigation volume through the use of established and new technologies, investigation of the influence of a lignin-based biogel on soil hydrology and yield, determination of the effect of the biogel compared to established mulching, modeling of soil hydrology based on soil sensors and growth models to determine the optimal irrigation amount.
