Changing climatic conditions have caused an increase in drought in many forests in recent years. As a result, forest damage due to pest infestation or drought is increasing. This has a negative impact on forestry, as planned timber harvests will not be possible on many areas in the coming years and additional costs will be incurred for reforestation. As a result, owners of forest and woodland are faced with the challenge of testing alternative economic uses. The cultivation of functional and edible mushrooms on dead wood on forest land represents an innovative addition to traditional management. The conversion of the forest into a mixed forest offers ideal conditions for mushroom cultivation. The aim of the project is to offer a sustainable and profitable supplement to traditional forestry by cultivating selected native mushroom species. Remote monitoring is designed through the collection and processing of sensor data. This approach increases the scalability of the project and enables mushroom cultivation to be carried out efficiently at a large number of locations.
