Climate change

Project code: EIP-Agri-Ni-2024-GAGF
Contract period: 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2026
Budget: 443,111 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: outdoor horticulture and woody crops (incl. viticulture, olives, fruit, ornamentals), energy, fodder and feed, arable crops, farm diversification

The Mykovoltaik project focuses on innovation impulses for the development of processes for the multiple use of agricultural and forestry land in the agricultural and food sector. Within the framework of this project, an innovative and climate-resilient concept for the multiple use of cultivated land will be realized by combining hazelnut bushes with truffle cultivation as a mycorrhizal fungus in an area protected by photovoltaic systems. This combination of uses will take advantage of all weather conditions. In addition to the hazelnut-truffle combination, the project will develop different cultivation options of mushrooms and fruit-bearing mushroom hosts for cultivation under photovoltaic systems in order to generate significant economic added value for the producers, with high ecological value of the area and greater independence from the weather. In addition, a potential analysis for possible locations and cultivation options in Lower Saxony will be developed in this project.
