Climate change

Project code: EIP-Agri-BW-2023
Contract period: 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2026
Budget: 610,241 Euro
Purpose of research: Public relations
Keywords: animal husbandry, climate change (incl. GHG reduction, adaptation and mitigation, and other air related issues)

The project focuses on climate-friendly pig production in consideration of economics an animal welfare. To transform this value chain into a climate-friendly, animal welfare-oriented and economically sustainable southern German pig production, the existing information platform 'Qualifood' needs to be upgraded with a central sustainability module. For this purpose, data and knowledge from various projects in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria are bundled, synergies are used, developments towards sustainability are controlled and along the value chain the exchange of information is intensified. In addition, a climate check for pig farming will be developed, which will enable the farmers to estimate how climate-friendly they produce on farms. This will be accesible to all pig farms in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria via 'Qualifood' to strengthen their competitiveness.
