This project aims to develop a concept for an overall process for drying grain using renewable energy sources (maize spindles). The objectives are to achieve higher added value through lower or stable drying costs and a more environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to the fossil fuels that are currently mainly used. Maize spindles are not yet fully utilized and supply chains are not yet in place. In the area of biomass plants, all (relevant) technologies available on the market are to be investigated with regard to the use of fuel and their suitability for the drying process (provision of the required amount of energy). The technical solution for heat transport and control will be developed through cooperation between the companies involved and incorporated into the overall concept. A comprehensive analysis will also be carried out in the area of maize spindle collection technology. An economic analysis of the machines, harvest and transportation costs will be carried out. Finally, the individual components/modules will be integrated into an overall concept.
