Development of a procedure for establishing an in vitro culture in Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna)
Project
Project code: JKI-ZO-23-4262
Contract period: 06.03.2024
- 06.03.2026
Purpose of research: Applied research
The testing of the starting material for the Apple Mosaic Virus represents a crucial step in ensuring quality. In this process, the inoculation of dormant buds from potted cultures is examined using established protocols, as described by Kosenko et al. (2009). To enhance efficiency, the protocols are continuously improved, potentially incorporating hazelnut protocols according to Bassil et al. (1991). The sterilization of the material, particularly against epiphytes, ensures the purity of the produced material. Another objective is the establishment of a comprehensive procedure for the multiplication of in vitro-cultivated shoots. This involves not only propagation but also successful root development and, ultimately, the transfer of plants to the greenhouse. This approach aims to ensure an effective and sustainable production of plant material.
