Production processes

Project code: EIP-Agri-Bay-2026
Contract period: 01.01.2026 - 31.12.2028
Budget: 534,742 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: circular economy, incl. waste, by-products and residues, competitiveness/new business models

Insect waste refers to the excrement and remains of insects produced during insect fattening. These can be considered a valuable by-product as they are rich in nutrients. The aim of the implementation is to increase the added value of the fattening farm with the insect frass produced during insect fattening and to use it as a soil-improving substrate to close the nutrient cycle. The aim is to develop an economically viable use case from hygienization to fertilizer production and application.
