The QuinoaRegio project will use a value chain approach to investigate the potential of the production, processing and marketing of quinoa in Germany. On the producer side, the project assesses the profitability of quinoa cultivation and complementarity with traditional grains from Germany. The barriers to the introduction of quinoa into the crop rotations of German farmers are identified and practical measures to overcome them are derived. In addition, the project investigates the demand potential of different marketing channels for German quinoa from the perspective of the processing industry, retailers and consumers. The project will achieve this by conducting expert interviews, literature analyses, and surveys. Finally, the project aims to communicate the results to the public, business and consumers and to promote cooperation between quinoa producers, processors and retailers in order to streamline production and distribution and promote the quinoa value chain in Germany.
