Cydia Mini: with new methods and technologies against codling moth in intensive and extensive orchards in Bavaria (Cydia Mini)
Project
Project code: A/24/24
Contract period: 01.07.2025
- 30.06.2028
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: mating disruption, forecast model, Cydia pomonella, pheromone traps, Codling moth
Main purpose of this project is to develop a strategy against codling moth in small apple orchards. Mating disruption works very well for big scale orchards, but there is less experience with this control method in smaller commercial or extensive fruit plantations. In the state of Bavaria these smaller types of orchards are traditionally very common, so it would be desirable to control Cydia pomonella here as well in a sustainable way with pheromones. Currently we are trying to find out what is necessary to regard to do so successfully.
