Colaborative project: Development of an extreme weather monitoring and risk assessment system as a new decision support tool for agricultural production. Subproject 5 (EMRA)

Project

Project code: 2815708115
Contract period: 01.02.2017 - 31.01.2020
Budget: 84,280 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: digitalisation

The aim was to develop and implement an extreme weather monitoring and risk assessment system (EMRA) to quantify extreme weather risks and provide decision support for extreme weather management in agriculture. For the model crops and regions "Winter Wheat in the Uckermark" and "Apple on the Lower Elbe" the content and technical basis was to be created to enable area-specific recording of extreme weather damage and analysis of the extreme weather risk situation via a monitoring app and a web portal. For this purpose, process chains were developed that allow a spatially and temporally flexible assessment of the extreme weather situation for these two crops and regions. The core of the technical implementation was the conception and development of an information node, in which all necessary data flow together and are available for the analysis routines. The result is an EMRA prototype that enables further technical and content-related development.
