Production processes

Project code: JKI-GF-08-1164, 2812NA055
Contract period: 01.01.2014 - 31.12.2018
Budget: 343,592 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: sustainability, crop production, integrated plant protection, wildlife, biological plant protection

In this project optimised approaches for managing rodent pest populations will be developed and tested with the target species common vole (Microtus arvalis). The main technical aim is creating barrier effects along the interface between refuge areas and crops to minimise invasion of crops by common voles in organic growing. Methods suitable for organic production will be applied in field trials along the refuge-crop interface: 1) deep furrow with repellent dispensers and repellent application in artificial tunnels and 2) deep furrows with bucket traps or 'self-service traps' equipped with an attractant.
