Collaborative project: Pesticide Application Manager - Operational safety of background services, system tests and practical guide - Subproject 3 (PAMrobust)

Project

Project code: 2815IP008
Contract period: 01.06.2017 - 30.11.2018
Budget: 83,432 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: Sustainable plant protection

PAM („pesticide application manager') is a decision support system for crop protection measures designating field- and product-specific buffer zone regulations in machine-readable application maps.
Thereby PAM supports the compliance with buffer zone regulations and improves driving comfort by automatically switching off the plant protection sprayer in foreland/peripheral field areas.
Besides these advantages for users, the tool generates positive environmental effects due to reduced pesticide residues.
PAM is the result of an eponymous innovation project, in the scope of which a demonstrator was developed. On the basis of positive feedback the tool received from agriculture, science and industry, an introduction to market and practical use is intended.
Consequently, in the follow-up project the previous demonstrator will be extended to become a prototype which is suitable for practical use regarding robustness, reliability and operator convenience.
The project includes three core work packages:
1. The project partners revise their web services and system components concerning operational safety
and functional reliability. This includes monitoring and automation of processes for example.
2. Work package 2 contains the development of test routines and the performance of system tests under various conditions.
3. In addition, a practical guide on collecting and using spatial data for farming, considering PAM as an application example, is produced.
