Production processes

Project code: JKI-OW-08-1183
Contract period: 01.08.2013 - 31.10.2016

A rain sensor should be developed to exactly determine the start of rain with kinetic energy and to differentiate from dew or fog. The detection of kinetic energy of rain is necessary for prognosis of ascospore discharge causing important primary infections. The prototype developed for detection of kinetic energy of rainfall should be optimized for orchard conditions. The sensor will then be used for improvement of software for prognosis. Discharge of spores should be analysed at hourly intervals and correlated to light, leaf-wetness, temperature, precipitation and kinetic energy. The thresholds of kinetic energy of rain and further meteorological conditions in view of spore release should be defined for prognosis. Following infections in the orchard will be detected by bioassays to verify monitoring data of sensors versus the real infections.
