Acquirement of basic precision farming principles by developing methods to differentiate plants on agricultural areas
Project
Project code: JKI-A-02-009
Contract period: 01.01.2001
- 31.12.2008
Purpose of research: Applied research
This project follows the development of methods for automatic plant species differentiation to enable site specific weed control. An automatic weed recognition system is an important requirement for site specific weed control when using weed threshold concepts. Segmentation, a preprocessing step, is applied to two- or three-dimensional images. In the following step different methods were used to distinguish plants. Weeds species will be investigated which occur frequently cereals. Recognition procedures in a knowledge-based system enable using these methods in an automatic recognition system for weed recognition.
