Purpose of research: Applied research
The innovative idea of the project is to identify effective and promising biocontrol agents for regulation of insect pests in desert agricultural crop systems at the Egyptian Northwestern Coast. Especially olive production is the target crop system. Biocontrol solutions are needed to prevent economic losses but also to replace chemical insectides with more environmental friendly solutions. Due to the particular environmental conditions in the desert area, only adapted beneficial organisms are able to survive and to reduce efficiently pest populations.
