The Technology and Support Centre (TFZ), the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture (LfL) and the Bavarian Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG) are researching in profitable energy crops. Many of these new crops offer an alternative to maize and help to diversify energy crop rotations. To share these results with farmers but also with consultants and interested persons, a corporate project was launched.
Throughout Bavaria, information and demonstration centres for energy crop cultivation will be established to show different energy crop species. With guided tours, the knowledge achieved during the research will be transferred to visitors. Additionally, publications for consultants, farmers, beekeepers, nature conservation associations, hunters and schools will be produced.
