Project code: 0315136D
Contract period: 01.01.2008 - 31.12.2010
Budget: 80,409 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research

The functional genome analysis provides an increasing extent concrete results such as markers or causal mutation of relevant traits in livestock. It is essential that these results into practical breeding programs are used efficiently. Appropriate marker, or genomgestützte gen-selection strategies can economic need to increase performance by an improvement in functional characteristic complexes (such as fertility, health) combined. This not only improves the efficiency of livestock production, but also contributes to animal welfare, product quality and reduction of environmental pollution and therefore constitutes a significant contribution to balanced farming dar. FUGATO in the brain are necessary methodological approaches and tools developed by the research results for the functional genome analysis (eg from FUGATO and FUGATO - plus) in an additional breeding progress can be implemented. In the center stands the development and integration of new aspects and methods in breeding a comprehensive approach to planning and programming of a flexible and user-friendly farming ZPLAN planning software. In a series of demonstration projects will be developed methods and tools based on concrete application examples with business partners tested and used, so that at the end of the project animals' specific implementations in the areas of dairy cattle, pig, horse and laying chicken be developed and tested. In addition, innovative tools such as an Internet, marker-mating program for direct use in practice developed and deployed. The developed methods and tools are used in both teaching and research as well as in the practical application of a substantial contribution to the implementation of genom analytic results in quantitative and qualitative breeding progress.
