Structural diversity and genetic variation of Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus gene in Thailand
Project
Project code: JKI-BI-08-1263
Contract period: 01.05.2018
- 30.04.2019
Purpose of research: Experimental development
Sericulture is an important source of income of small-scale farmers in Thailand. Farmers use wild strains of Bombyx mori. The silk production and farmers´ income is threatened by outbreak of infections with the baculovirus Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) which can cause a total collapse of reared insects. In a collaboration with the Mahasarakham University collected bmNPV specimens are analysed by PCR and characterized by NGS full genome sequencing. The aim of the project is evaluating the genetic diversity of naturally occurring BmNPV in Thailand.
