The effect of climate change on the system small mammal - ectoparasite - pathogen will be investigated emprically in large-scale replicated and controlled field experiments, where temperature and precipitation are manipulated in the Global Change Experimental Facility (GCEF) of Helmholtz-Zentrums für Umweltforschung (UFZ) Halle/Leipzig. This will allow to assess climate change effects expected in the future on rodents, extoparasaites and pathogens already in the present to enable developing mitigation strategies.
