Collaborative project: Sensor based monitoring of the cleaning demand and cleaning result in closed systems - subproject 2 (SensoRein)

Project

Project code: 281A106116
Contract period: 01.09.2018 - 31.08.2021
Budget: 968,851 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: hygiene, food safety, world, quality control, sensor technology, food processing

"In order to be able to operate production plants in the food industry in a hygienic manner, regular cleaning steps are indispensable. There is enormous potential for savings in the areas of water, energy and cleaning agents. The aim of the project was the development of measuring methods with which this resource consumption can be reduced by a targeted monitoring of the cleaning process. Three different sensor technologies were evaluated as promising and further developed regarding the suitability for inline monitoring of cleaning requirements and cleaning progress. Additionally, the sensor surfaces were modified by coatings to meet the necessary requirements. In parallel, methods were established or further developed in order to be able to test these measuring systems with respect to their subsequent application. As a test bench, a pilot plant was constructed for this purpose, which is still available for experiments."
