Collaborative project: Prognosis and detection of fungal diseases in viticulture by fine-meshed microclimate assessment and application of imaging techniques - subproject 1 (FungiSens)

Project

Project code: 281B200516
Contract period: 01.09.2018 - 31.08.2021
Budget: 504,734 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: viticulture (winery), agricultural engineering, digital world, sustainability, forecast, resource protection, resource efficiency, vine

In recent years, forecasting models such as Vitimeteo were established in viticulture, which can predict fungal infestations based on weather data and thus improve plant protection in vineyards. In the frame of the FungiSens project, a real-time wireless measurement system for measurement of the microclimate was developed, in order to increase the local prediction precision and also cover small-scale differences. With additional application of infrared and hyperspectral imaging techniques, physiological responses of grapevines to pathogen infestation were investigated to improve model prediction. By integrating the project results into the Vitimeteo prediction system, the user can optimize plant protection measures in vineyards and thus reduce costs and environmental impact.
