Project code: EIP-Agri-BW-2017-LPP01
Contract period: 01.01.2017 - 31.12.2019
Budget: 446,129 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, plant production and horticulture, pest/disease control, genetic resource, product/service

The EIP project includes the introduction of an unmanned aerial vehicle (spray drone) in the viticultural practice for the application of pesticides in vineyards with high slope and high manual effort. The spry drone DLI Agras MG-1s should fly automatically over a pre-planned route under the supervision of the user during the entire vegetation period. The technology should be optimized in terms of application rate and area performance. The targeted application of pesticides in these kind of vineyards is intended to reduce the pesticide drift into the environment. The detection of the disease impact via multispectral sensors during the overflight should simultaneously enable a differentiated and infestation-oriented application (precision farming) of pesticides. In the project, inexperienced persons are instructed to carry out the application of pesticides by spry drones in vineyards with high slope. The lessons learned from instruction, flight training and the maintenance of the spray drones are incorporated into a training and drone maintenance program for future users.
