Location-adapted fully automatic real-time process optimization of solar-powered irrigation in the regional agriculture of Saxony-Anhalt

Project

Climate change

This project contributes to the research aim 'Climate Change'. What are the sub-aims? Take a look:
Climate change

Project code: EIP-Agri-SA-2017-LPLGMDB01
Contract period: 01.01.2017 - 31.12.2019
Budget: 891,108 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, farming equipment, fertilisation, soil, water, climate change

Within the innovation project, the technical irrigation process for agriculture is optimized in real time and the limits of solar-driven irrigation are determined. The digitization of plant-based as well as agrarmeterological parameters and their linkage through interoperable interfaces is tested and a practical prototype is developed. The soilwater balance and the nutrient flows (dissolved fertilizer salts in the soil) are mapped and projected. The site-adapted, fully automatic process optimization of solar-driven irrigation is intended to improve the long-term competitiveness of the agricultural sector farms in Saxony-Anhalt and integrate the irrigation process even more closely into the 'SMART FARMING' model. Compliance with and implementation of the European Water Framework Directive (EU-WFD 2000, Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM)), the nitrate regulation or the fertilizer regulation are to be facilitated and thus make a significant contribution to a ressource friendly and sustainable agriculture. The 'target conflict of water'' is to be counteracted.
