Purpose of research: Public relations
The aim of the project is to examine the risk perception of toxic substances in pharmaceuticals, chemical products, cosmetics and hygiene products as well as foods. Therefore, a representative telephone survey of the German population will be conducted. In the first part of the survey, the knowledge and assessment of risks posed by different toxic substances as well as the knowledge and use of information sources about poisoning (e.g. poison control centers, BFR poisoning app). The focus in the second part of the survey will be on the risk perception of carbon-monoxide poisoning. Special risks groups will be identified, which are vulnerable because they own boilers, gas ovens, chimneys or charcoal grills. In addition, information seeking as well as knowledge about preventive actions (e.g. installation of a carbon monoxide alarm) by all participants and within the risk groups will be studied.
