Novel and extended wood pellet characterisation and combustion modelling – Part 1: Basic investigations (FuturePelletSpec)

Purpose of research: Applied research
Within the project a detailed investigation of yet unknown or not intensively investigated fuel parameters of wood pellets will be conducted that negatively influence the combustion behavior through an increase in emission and reduced failure-free operation of the small scale combustion unit. After the identification of the fuel parameter of interest a method screening for its determination will be conducted. Based on extensive combustion and lab reactor experiments a detailed combustion model for wood pellets as fixed bed will be developed and validated.
