Biodiversity as resource for the development of microbial-based insecticides in sustainable agriculture and forestry
Project
Project code: JKI-BI-08-1270
Contract period: 01.09.2019
- 31.08.2022
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: entomopathogenic fungi, biodiversity, biological crop protection
Corresponding to the overall goal the General Objective of the project is to provide fundamental information on the functional biodiversity of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) as a basic concept for the development of plant protection products for sustainable agriculture and forestry. Our expected impact of this study is, that both partner will improve their knowledge to successfully uptake new biological innovations, for the design of sustainable solutions for agriculture and forestry. For this, Brazil will advance in technologies and increase the possibility of the use of biological control in large scale, attending to the great demand in the agricultural and forestry sectors. In case of Germany it is expected to support soybean production in the country as well as increase its use of biological control, with Brazil as one of the largest producers of soybean in the world.
