Effect of maize/bean polyculture on insect biodiversity

Purpose of research: Applied research
Maize/bean polyculture is cropping system providing additional ressources for insects which may lead to subsequent diversification of the fauna. In cooperation with famers we will evaluate biodiversity and biomass of flying insects in polyculture in comparion to monoculture at several sites in Germany. Furthermore, we test the effect of different bean cultivars in laboratory trials and small plot field trials for beneficial insects.
