The aim of the project is the development of a digital experimental environment with a focus on necessary communication and cloud infrastructures for the research and testing of technologies for area-wide wireless data transmission with the help of 5G in rural areas and networking of agricultural enterprises in a selected model region of Saxony. In the test bed, specific use cases are developed on which the manufacturers of communication hardware build their 5G products. The test field is a platform and showcase with non-discriminatory access for testing and demonstrating new and future digitalisation applications for agricultural purposes and for innovation in rural areas. The infrastructure created within the framework of the project is especially open to the other experimental field projects supported by the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMEL) for tests and trials. In addition to cooperation with these projects, links will also be established with the projects of the simul+InnovationHub (SIH) and other future projects in the field of agriculture, such as the Fraunhofer lead project 'Cognitive Agriculture'. WP 1: Analysis of digitisation applications and their technical requirements Application and requirements analysis, technical specification and evaluation methodology. WP 2: 5G-based experimental field Planning, conception, architecture, implementation and operation. WP 3: Testing and demonstration of digital technologies and applications Digital applications (products, processes, services) and new technologies for networking and agricultural engineering. WP 4: Participation strategies and public relations work Development and implementation of strategies for the involvement of local actors, user groups, external stakeholders and the local and national public. WP 5: Value creation and transfer, evaluation Development of operator and business models for new value chains, action guidelines for digitization.
