Development of a bio-based packaging solution with a shelf life-extending effect from PLA and essential oils. The aim of the project is the development of an antimicrobial packaging solution for the improvement of food safety and the reduction of food waste with the exclusive use of biobased components. The following work packages result from the scientific and technical aims of the project: WP 1 PLA selection and material procurement AP 2 Compounding and process optimization AP 3 Injection moulding and characterization of the material and structural properties AP 4 Upscaling of the process and compound production AP 5 Film production from PLA, additives and essential oils AP 6 Production of a multilayer film with an active layer of PLA, additives and essential oils.
